Over the past several years Invisalign clear aligners have become increasingly popular. Invisalign aligners are easier to clean, removable and hardly anyone knows your are wearing them. They are great in treating many cases, but they may not be for everyone. Below are some of the instances where Invisalign aligners are not the answer.
Teeth Require Significant Amount Of Movement
Fixed appliances such as traditional metal braces deliver much more significant tooth movement. So if your case is a drastic one, which requires molars to be moved, clear aligners may not be the best choice. Molars have much stronger roots than your other teeth and can be moved with traditional braces. Invisalign aligners are great for moving front teeth. Traditional braces are the best choice in this instance, especially if you have a substantial underbite or overbite that needs to be addressed.
If You Forget Or Lose Things
Invisalign aligners require wearing the aligners at least 22 hours per day. Forgetting to wear your aligners can delay treatment and even make it so you need to regress to the previous set of aligners to be able to move forward with treatment.
Removable aligners are also easy to misplace or lose if you are not careful. Losing your aligners can delay treatment and are expensive since you need to buy replacements to stay on course. Replacing a lost set of aligners usually takes between seven and ten days which is a setback in your orthodontic treatment.
