Toothache While Wearing Braces

We all know that dental hygiene should be amongst your top priorities, especially when wearing braces. Dental caries forms much easier while in fixed orthodontics. It is critical to pay extra attention to brushing and flossing everyday during your orthodontic treatment.

If you are experiencing tooth pain it is usually, one of two things, either your teeth are sensitive after having the wires tightened or there is some kind of dental problem affecting the teeth. How do you know which one is the case, and what can you do to stop the pain?

When Braces Are Causing The Toothache
Adjustments or tightening are a necessary, yet sometimes painful occurrence when you wear braces. Braces tightening accomplishes the important goal of straightening your teeth. However, this places added pressure on your teeth and gums, which can cause some discomfort. While the exact reasons why braces tightening can hurt are unknown, changes to the locations of the teeth can affect blood flow in your body. This can also trigger an inflammatory response in your body, causing your body to release substances called prostaglandins that can trigger the body’s pain response. Continue reading
