What Causes Crooked Teeth?

crooked-teethThere are a number of reasons teeth may grow crooked, twisted, or overlapping. People’s mouths are small compared to their teeth, which crowds them, and they shift. Other reasons include the upper and lower jaws of a person being malformed or not the same size. This can result either in overbite, where the upper jaw is excessively protruded or an underbite, where the lower jaw is protruded forward. It can cause the teeth and the lower jaw to extend beyond upper teeth.

Is It Genetic, Or Am I Doing Something Wrong?
As stated above, many times malocclusion is simply genetic. Your jaw is too small for all of your teeth, or you come from a long line of people with crooked teeth. Genetics do play into how your jaw and teeth develop and do effect your orthodontic situation from the very start. Continue reading
